  • Northfield Hospital is inviting the public to visit the expanded Breast Care Center. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the new patient space and learn about the hospital’s latest technology. Everyone is welcome to attend the viewing tour, which takes place today from 4:00 to 6:30.
  • The latest unemployment numbers are in. The state department of Employment and Economic Development reports Northfield had an unemployment rate of 6.7% for the month of August. That’s below the state rate of 8%. The national rate was up to 9.7% for the month of August.
  •  West Hills Lodge and the Rice County Chemical Health Coalition will host two open meetings to educate people about a proposed half-way house in Northfield. The six-bed halfway house would be for women in recovery from alcohol or drug abuse. The open informational meetings will include a presentation by the director of West Hills lodge. That group has operated a halfway house in Owatonna for more than 30 years and would manage the Northfield house. There will also be time for questions and answers. The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 28th from noon to 1 in the Just Food co-op meeting room. The second meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30th from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Northfield Community Resource center.
