- The Northfield City Council meets for a work session tonight. They’re scheduled to review a utility rate study. Specifically, the council will look at rate change recommendations and scheduling changes. The council will also receive budget presentations from various departments, including the Economic Development Authority, public works, engineering , storm water and garbage. They’ll also continue a discussion about the Capital Improvement Plan. The majority of projects included in the plan are funded mostly through debt financing, which is directly reflected in property tax levels. According to a memo from city staff, tax rates and property taxes and how they’re affected by the plan will be an ongoing assessment by the city council. KYMN will have more coverage of the council’s work session tomorrow and throughout the week.
