  • Northfield Schools Community Services Director, Hannah Puczko has been named 2010 President of the National Community Education Association, or NCEA. Puczko was installed as president at the group’s annual conference in Arizona in November. The NCEA was established in 1966 and is based in Washington DC. They provide professional development, support education and community policy development and promote community education practices. Puczko has served as community services director of Northfield Schools since August 2001.
  • New statistics from the state Health Department show that H1-N1 activity in the state remains at a low ebb, although five new deaths were reported. There have now been 44 H1-N1 deaths in the state and six deaths from seasonal or unspecified flus this year. Health officials caution a third wave could be in the future. An H1-N1 vaccine clinic has been scheduled in Northfield. That takes place at the Northfield Middle School on Friday, December 18th from 3:30 to 7:30.
  • St. Olaf Artist in Residence, David Hagedorn has added a unique accomplishment to his repetoire. He recently recorded vibraphone parts for legendary rocker, Brain Setzer and his orchestra. Hagedorn recorded three songs for Setzer in South Minneapolis, the songs appear on Setzer’s new CD, Songs from Lonely Avenue. Hagedorn says the music on the new CD is reminescent of the classic Sinatra/Nelson Riddle swing sound, with an emphasis on Setzer’s blistering guitar work.
