- We’re heading right into the thick of what’s typically though of as the giving season. Executive Director of the Northfield Community Action Center, Jim Blaha says there are still opportunities out there for families in need. A Christmas eve dinner will be available at Beef O’ Brady’s, you just need to call ahead for a reservation. And, St. John’s Lutheran Church will host its annual Christmas Dinner on Friday from 11:30 to 1:30. You can call ahead for the St. John’s dinner as well, and riders will be available to pick you up or make deliveries if necessary.
- With the holiday season in full-swing, it’s a time for many to get together with family and friends to celebrate. Rice County Attorney Paul Beaumaster wants you to have fun, but he does have a reminder for you: choose a designated driver and drive safe. Law enforcement officials are making a concerted effort to be out on the roads looking for impaired drivers this month. The penalty for a DWI is loss of license for at least 90 days and it can cost up to $20,000 when you factor in increased insurance costs, legal and other fees.
