(AP) A Northfield middle school teacher is accused of biting off part of a man’s ear during a confrontation at a St. Paul diner. Prosecutors say 30-year-old Susan Mukuhi Mwarabu was drunk when she attacked the man at the Uptowner about 4 a.m. Sunday. A criminal complaint says the 33-year-old man was eating with friends when one made a comment about one of the women with Mwarabu. It says she approached the group of men, licked the victim’s ear, then bit off part of it. Mwarabu teaches sixth grade at Northfield Middle School. School superintendent, Dr. Chris Richardson says in a statement: ”The school district is just beginning its administrative investigation of the incident. At the time when the school district knows more, any ability of the school district to share additional information with the public will be subject to federal and state data privacy laws. Ms. Mukuhi Mwarabu has been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the administrative investigation. The school district feels it is not appropriate to speculate on any formal action that could be taken prior to the completion of that investigation.”- Some local businesses along the west river walk are preparing for the worst as the Cannon River rises. KYMN’s Law Review host, David Hvistendahl is an owner of Froggy Bottoms. He and several volunteers began flood-proofing yesterday. According to the National Weather Service, the river stands at a stage of about 21 feet as of this morning—that’s an increase of around five feet since Saturday. The record stage for the Cannon in Northfield is just over 22 feet. A representative from the National Weather Service says it appears that the river is about at its crest in Northfield.
