- The Minnesota Judicial Selection Committee interviewed 12 candidates earlier this week for two vacancies in the third judicial district. The applicants are vying for two positions created by the retirements of Judges William A. Johnson and Bernard E. Borene, both of Northfield. Five attorneys from Northfield were interviewed. Background checks of each candidate will be conducted by the state. Then, the selection committee will recommend four to six candidates to Governor Pawlenty. The governor must make the appointments before the May 18th filing period opens for state offices, or the positions will be filled by election in November.
