Listen Fridays at 9:00am (replayed on Saturday also at 9am) to Paula Granquist’s “Art Zany: Radio for the Imagination”
Paula’s Guest/Topic this week: Paula’s guests today are celebrating the first Riverwalk Market Fair in downtown Northfield, Minnesota. Every Saturday morning beginning June 5th 2010, attendees will have the opportunity to socialize and shop along the picturesque Cannon River for fine art and fine craft, as well as local and organic produce and artisan foods. Organizers envision an environment where visitors will not only purchase from local entrepreneurs, but also discover fine products from established downtown retailers and restaurants. You can find more details at riverwalkmarketfair.org or visit the Riverwalk Market Fair in downtown Northfield every Saturday from June 5 – October 30 (except September 11, Defeat of Jesse James Days) from 9AM to 1PM.
Gail Jones Hansen is one of the founders of the Riverwalk Market Fair. Since returning to Northfield Gail has actively participated in its arts scene, serving on the Arts and Culture Commission, as President of the Northfield Historical Society, and currently she is on the Board at the Northfield Arts Guild. Her communications firm, The Write Solution, provides corporate and not-for-profit clients with editorial, marketing and public relations services.
Dean Kjerland is one of the founders of the Riverwalk Market Fair. He is the owner of the ArtOnWater Gallery in the Kjerland Building on the west bank of the Cannon River in downtown Northfield and the ArcheoPaleo – a private paleontology research lab and educational center focusing on Paleontology of the Early Paleozoic of the Upper Mississippi Valley. Dean is also a leader in the formation of the Riverwalk Arts Quarter. Established as a non-proft organization, the Riverwalk Arts Quarter plays a leading role in the Northfield arts and culture community, fostering economic development through events and regional marketing which link entrepreneurs and patrons, and bringing more arts-oriented visitors to Northfield to the benefit of the wider community.
