Paula’s guests today are here to invite you to join them at the Lakeville Art Festival.

The Lakeville Art Festival is this weekend, Saturday, September 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival hosts approximately 60 exhibitors on the grounds of the Lakeville Area Arts Center in downtown Lakeville, Minnesota. The Lakeville Art Festival promotes artistry in many forms and mediums to include visual, performing, and literary artisans. This event also includes a featured artist exhibit, artist demonstrations, Youth Art Tent, community art project, performing and literary artists, great food and wonderful community camaraderie.

Shelly Carney is the director of the Lakeville Art Festival Committee.

Devon Driscoll is a jewelry artist and the 2010 Featured Artist at the Lakeville Art Festival. Last year she was honored with the 2009 1st Place Best in Show award. She has a passion for studying how humans interact with space and design. She studied interior architecture at the Parsons School of Design in New York City, architecture in Paris, and metal smithing at the Studio Jewelers Ltd. and the 92nd Street Y in New York.

Catherine Friend describes herself as “an author, speaker, and sometimes shepherd.” The Star Tribune called her book Hit By a Farm: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Barn “a joy to read, from start to finish.” Her new work, The Compassionate Carnivore: Or, How to Keep Animals Happy, Save Old MacDonald’s Farm, Reduce Your Hoofprint, and Still Eat Meat
was the winner of the 2009 Minnesota Book Award.
