Wow. I grew up in Northfield and remember the Carleton athletic fields being under water, but I never saw the river downtown being as high, as fast-flowing, and and powerful as this.
What an awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing. This will be a video for the history books! So sad for the downtown businesses, especially Froggy Bottoms. I’ve know David Hvistendahl and his sister, Susan, since the 50′s.
I have seen this footage for the 3rd time now. And WOW that is amazing! I grew up in Northfield and I have family that still live in town, in fact my Aunt and Uncle run and own the bakery downtown. Good Luck to all who have a business in the area of the cannon river!
