The Northfield city council continued its discussion on how to move forward with potential site selection for a new Public Safety Center at its Tuesday work session. The council also discussed potential reuse opportunities for the current safety center site. In early March, the council voted not to proceed with General Obligation Bond financing for a new safety center. City administrator Tim Madigan is recommending two committees consisting of two council members and two construction experts to review site options and reuse options separately on a fact-finding and reporting mission, with the council to make the final site decisions based on the established facts. The council also considered the option of one committee of four to carry out the mission. The council will likely take a vote on how to proceed with the fact-finding team(s) at its April 5th meeting.
