Paula’s Guest/Topic this week:

Paula’s guests today are from the Northfield Arts Guild theater show 13 (The Musical) which opens next week on Thursday, 14 July. 13 is about growing up, dealing with change and learning that becoming who you want to be starts with discovering who you are. In-studio are members of the production: Jana Hirsch (choreographer), Jack Lunderby (Evan), Scout Gregerson (Lucy), and Ben Wang (Archie).

13 (The Musical) Music & Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, Book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn

Northfield Arts Guild production directed by Rachel Haider

Evan Goldman has it all: he’s popular, has the “perfect” family and lives in the world’s greatest city — New York. That is until his parents get divorced; he’s forced to move with his Mom to “the middle of nowhere”–Appleton, Indiana. Uprooted from his old life, Evan determines that in order to survive, he must get the town’s coolest kids to come to his Bar Mitzvah.

The Northfield Arts Guild production of 13 (The Musical) opens next week on Thursday, 14 July. The show 13 (The Musical) plays for two weekends through Sunday, 24 July. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Thursday, Friday and Saturday night performances are at 7:30 and Sunday performances are at 2:00pm. Contact the Northfield Arts Guild for tickets at 507-645-8877 or visit the Center for the Arts at 304 Division Street in downtown Northfield or go online at www.northfieldartsguild.org

The show is great for teens and adults alike. While 13 is a wonderful youth musical, the story deals with some adolescent language and themes in a light-hearted manner, so it may not be appropriate for very young children.
