An Owatonna man pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to producing videos and images containing child pornography. 46-year-old Michael Sherman admitted that between September and December 2010, he enticed and coerced a young boy and girl to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of the activity. The items were found on a computer during the execution of a search warrant at Sherman’s residence. Additional images of the victims were found on Sherman’s cell phone. Sherman faces up to 30 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years.

The city of Northfield, along with the Streetscape Task Force host a public open house and input gathering session tonight. The focus of the session will be the enhancement of the Gateway Corridor areas. The project’s design team will present some of their ideas, including landscape paintings, streetscape treatments, pedestrian walkways and trail links and bike routes. The session is the second in a series of three focusing on the creation of a “sense of arrival” and connection for people traveling throughout Northfield. The session runs from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. tonight at the Archer House Inn (Riverview Conference Room.)
