Today’s news update | Prairie’s Edge needs your help,

 Prairies Edge needs your help

Prairies Edge Humane Society is asking the public for help.  Sandy Vesledahl says kitten season is here but they’ve also had an influx of adult cats.  Their adoption floor is filled with more waiting in back for their spay and neuter surgery.  They have no more room to take in animals.  Soon they’ll have to make some tough decisions if these animals are not adopted.  They have the same issue with dogs.  Vesledahl says they’re going to run specials for the next few days.  Listen to the podcast for more information  or click on the link to their website.

Council discussions included….

While much of the Northfield city council meeting was dominated by discussion of funding for the new Public Safety Center, there were other items.   They approved the transit transfer to Hiawathland.  Mayor Rossing said there will be extended hours of operation and the cost of dial-a-ride will go down.  The routes will change slightly.   Council also gratefully accepted a small parcel of land donated by LaVern Rippley.  They discussed the Gateway Improvement plan and much more.  The entire meeting is archived right here on kymnradio.net

Technology Transformation meeting tonight

The Northfield School District will hold a public information session regarding the progress of the District’s transformational technology proposal tonight at 6 o’clock in the Northfield High School auditorium.  The technology would ditch the backpack of books and replace it with tablet computers such as ipads for both teachers and students.  The agenda will include presentations about the vision of their use, the potential implementation process, the cost of the project and the method being considered to fund the implementation district-wide.  The public will be able to ask questions as well.

DJJD will hold informational meeting on Ambassador selection tonight

The DJJD Ambassador Scholarship Program committee will no longer be crowing Queens and princesses but they WILL be selecting Ambassadors.  If you have a daughter interested, there’s an informational meeting tonight at 7 o’clock at Jesse James Lanes.  Three ambassadors will be chosen to represent DJJD and Northfield, attending over 60 events and participating in volunteer projects.  If you miss this meeting, there’s another one on the 12th.  For more information check out djjd.org.
