Dundas council discusses Titan lawsuit in closed session

The Dundas city council meets tonight.  They’ll start at 6 o’clock with a closed session to further discuss the Titan Supply company’s lawsuit against the City and city administrator John McCarthy.  The federal district court denied the Titan’s request to amend the Complaint for a third time.  At a hearing on August 1, 2012, the Court ordered the parties to participate in mediation in an effort to resolve the litigation.  Speaking of lawsuits, McCarthy attended the regular meeting of the Bridgewater Town Board on August 8 where they reviewed Dundas’ request to pursue mediation over Annexation disagreements with the township.  The Board all agreed they would take it before a court.

Public Safety radio switch on the horizon

The upgrade to 800 mega hertz radios for public safety is on the horizon.  Deputy Chief Chuck Walerius says they have all the equipment and are just waiting for the building of the tower in Dundas to be completed.  Walerius says they tested the equipment a couple of years ago and found that there was a dead spot in downtown Northfield.  He says that’s when they discovered they needed a tower.  The tower has been a bone of contention between Dundas and Bridgewater township in regard to who had the power to authorize building it.  Bridgewater approved the project and Rice County started to build.  That’s when Dundas started questioning their authority.  The project is in process and they hope the tower will be completed by November.  The scanners that people have in their home right now, won’t work after the make the transistion to 800 mega hertz.
