ArtZany!-Radio for the Imagination | Artists Wendy Nordquist and Mary Rossing

Paula’s guests today are artists Mary Rossing and Wendy Nordquist who will be the Featured Artists this Saturday, 1 September 2012 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Riverwalk Market Fair in downtown Northfield. They will represent The Local Joint, a Northfield shop located at 310 Division Street that sells vintage and handmade art offered by a variety of local vendors.

Mary Rossing is Northfield’s current mayor and the former owner of the downtown business Present Perfect. She is an artist who primarily creates with pastel on paper and her pieces often incorporate inspirational and whimsical quotations.

Wendy Nordquist is a familiar voice on KYMN radio – she hosts the Saturday Morning Show every other weekend and hosts the weekly show Fine Tune on Sunday evenings  from 6PM to 7PM.  Wendy is the Perlman Teaching Museum Assistant at the Carleton College Weitz Center for Creativity. She is an artist who works with fabric and sewing to create hats and patterned clothing including her signature aprons.   Visit Wendy on Facebook

Riverwalk Market Fair is a one-of-a-kind open-air market that runs every Saturday from June through October in historic Northfield. Each Saturday features a different combination of organic and sustainably grown produce from local farmers, artisan foods including breakfast pastries and desserts, seasonal flowers and a juried selection of the region’s top artists including ceramics, watercolors, oil, acrylic and mixed media paintings, prints, photography, glasswork, textiles, wearable art, garden sculpture and hand-crafted jewelry.  After October 27 the Fair moves indoors and continues through December.
