John Fossum Announces Candidacy for Rice County Attorney
January 3, 2014 – Northfield, Minnesota – Northfield attorney John L. Fossum announced today that he will run for the Rice County Attorney in the November, 2014. Click headline for more… Fossum, who has practiced law since 1993, has worked in private practice in Rice County for most of his career. He is Board Certified as Criminal Law Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association, and has been named a “Top 100 Trial Lawyer” by the National Trial Lawyers. In 2007-2008, Fossum served in Afghanistan training police and prosecutors for the U.S. Department of State. A graduate of Northfield High School and fifth-generation resident of Rice County, Fossum currently serves on the Northfield School Board. He lives in Northfield with his wife Tracy and daughter Liv. “The people of Rice County deserve a county attorney who is an effective lawyer, a good steward of the county’s resources and a champion for justice,” Fossum said. “I want to be that County Attorney.” Fossum has formed a campaign committee for the office of Rice County Attorney. He filed campaign finance reports showing that he has raised in excess of $1,700 in just three weeks of fundraising. This is an indicator of strong early support.
