Today in the ArtZany! Radio studio Paula Granquist welcomes artists Sue Hammes-Knopf and Jill Ewald in two segments. Both artists are a part of the Northfield Arts Guild Members’ Show.

Sue Hammes-Knopf is a jewelry artist that creates whimsical pieces that are inspired by a mix of materials: wire, beads, stone and chain. Bold, one of a kind, bracelets and necklaces are created with needle-woven techniques and seed beads. Customers love the eccentric, distinctive, joyful and soulful qualities of her beaded luxury jewelry.

SEMAC Capstone Event
“Exploring Variations of a Bead-Woven Shape”

The current exhibition at the Northfield Arts Guild Gallery also features the capstone event of Sue Hammes-Knopf, recipient of an Established Artist grant from SEMAC for “Exploring Variations of a Bead-Woven Shape.” Sue will have an artist talk at around 7:30 pm in the Main Gallery during the Artist Reception on Friday, September 23.

Jill Ewald is a visual artist who creates paintings, drawings, and sculptures. She explores how to visualize interior and exterior human connections though painting and drawing. Stylistically, her work is as abstract as the concepts addressed by her work. Often using a square format support, whether it is paper, canvas or board, Ewald works with oil paint, graphite, conte crayon, encaustic and charcoal, and recently, thread.

Over 50 members of the Arts Guild have submitted work for the Annual Members’ Exhibition
Annual Members’ Show Artist Reception and Season Kickoff Party from 7-9 pm in the Main Gallery
Some of the member artists are new to the area and have just joined the Arts Guild, while other artists have been members of the Arts Guild for over 40 years. This exhibition will be a chance to see new work from local and regional artists who have not recently exhibited here. On display will be works in various mediums—painting, sculpture, fiber, and more; there will surely be something for everyone.

directly following the Annual Members Meeting at 6 pm.

Eclipse Viewing Party at Northfield Public Library

Monday, April 8, 2024 @ 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm – Join us for the total solar eclipse! We will make cardboard eclipse viewers, pass out eclipse glasses, and all join together to see 70% of the total eclipse at 2:02 p.m. Bring a cereal box (or similar box) to make your own viewer–we will have a limited supply available.
