The Northfield Arts Guild Hosts Auditions for The King’s New Clothes

Purple Door Youth Theater, an educational branch of the Northfield Arts Guild, hosts auditions for the Kevin Holmstrom Bradshaw comedy, The Kings New Clothes,on Wednesday, January 31, and Sunday, February 4 between 4:30 and 6:00pm  Auditions for this all-student touring production take place at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 411 Third Street West, Northfield.

The King’s New Clothes is a delightful, funny re-telling of the Hans Christian Andersen story of The Emperor’s New Clothes. The King has a splendid new suit — the Queen and all their subjects agree. The problem is that not even the King can see it.  This play is a funny and fast-paced parable about pride, delusion and human nature, appropriate for the entire family.

The Kings New Clothes is a Project Purple Door production.  Project Purple Door (PPD) is an extension of the educational Purple Door Youth Theater program; PPD focuses on ensemble-based storytelling: building productions through imaginative theatricality and minimal stagecraft.  Additionally, The King’s New Clothes will tour to several Northfield locations- engaging students with fun and increased responsibilities and community-building experiences. Through hands-on-theater experiences, students will be involved with every aspect of producing the show under the direction and instruction of Rachel Haider.  Student tuition for The King’s New Clothes is $112.50 for Guild members and $125 for non-members.
