YPTW Performs at Arcadia

Young People’s Theater Workshop (YPTW), an educational program of the Northfield Arts Guild in its 27th year, shares its final performances with the public on Wednesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 29 at 5:30 pm, and Friday, June 30 at 10:00 am. All performances of YPTW are held at Arcadia Charter School, 1719 Cannon Rd, Northfield.

Each YPTW class starts with a theme, and over a three week period students create, rehearse and perform several original scripts. These unique scripts meld together for a fun and extraordinary show. New themes are chosen for each session, with session one being “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, in honor of The Guild’s summer production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. YPTW’s second session theme is “Making Waves,” a nod to The Guild’s late summer production of The Pirates of Penzance.

The first session is completely full with 66 youth grades 3-12. There is still available space for students in grades 7-12 to register for the second session YPTW class which begins on July 17. A wait list has been started for interested students in grades 3-6.

Tickets for YPTW performances are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the Northfield Arts Guild’s Center for the Arts, 304 Division Street South, by calling 507-645-8878 or at the door prior to the performance.

The Northfield Arts Guild 2016-17 Education Programs are sponsored by Northfield News. Young People’s Theater Workshop is sponsored by Countryside Kennels and Animal Hospital and by Arcadia Charter School.

This activity is made possible by the voter of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
