Those are the things you’ve come to expect from the After School Special- a self-described “big hour of fun,” airing every weekday from 3 to 4 p.m. Hosted by Kevin Krein, self-described “very famous radio celebrity,” you never know what you are going to hear when you tune in: the latest in hip indie rock, a smattering of Mowtown or old school R&B, a trip down memory lane with classic rock from the Rolling Stones, or an in depth explanation of the latest in theoretical genres. Every show is packed with musical information that you never know you needed to learn, but now can’t fathom your life without.
You may also recognize Kevin from his co-hosting and production duties with the station’s hit KeYMN Saturday Morning Show, which includes members of the Northfield Union of Youth, also known as The Key.
If you miss an episode of the After School Special, fear not! There’s an entire blog dedicated to it– each daily entry includes the playlist from the day, as well as a blurb about the day’s show, a hilarious photo drawn by Kevin’s wife, and a commemorative mp3 to download of that day’s episode.
