Joan Ennis and Marie Gery talk about Northfield Reads. They pick one book per year that deals with a group of people or an issue that affects people of Northfield and the wider community.
Northfield Reads, sponsored by the Human Rights Commission, Northfield Public Library, Northfield Schools, Carleton College, and Content Books, selected the book A Good Time for the Truth; Race in Minnesota, edited by Sun Yung Shin for this year. The Northfield Reads Committee has hosted events beginning in September and will continue through April. Some of the goals for the year are to raise awareness of racial discrimination in our state and our city, and to find out what we can do to make those of the global majority feel more comfortable and welcome when they move to Northfield. Events are scheduled for March 12 at the Northfield Community Resource Center, March 28 at Northfield Library and April 4 at UCC Church. You can find the book at Northfield Public Library or you can purchase a copy at Content Books.
