AUTHOR ROMALYN TILGHMAN WILL TALK ABOUT HER NOVEL ON CARNEGIE LIBRARIES AT THE NORTHFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, AT 7:00 PM
Andrew Carnegie funded many libraries in the United States. Northfield is fortunate to have been a recipient of Carnegie’s generosity, and our library was built in 1910. Carnegie donated money for the buildings, but what about the books inside? Public libraries would never have thrived on the prairie in the early 20th Century if it weren’t for the women in small and remote communities who sponsored waffle suppers, minstrel shows, and women’s baseball games to raise money for books to fill the library shelves.
Author Romalyn Tilghman will read from her novel To The Stars, Through Difficulties, and discuss her research on Carnegie Libraries, on Monday, October 15, at 7:00 at the Northfield Public Library.
Content Books will sell copies of the book. The program is free and open to the public.
