The Northfield Public Library is hosting a program on Saturday, May 4 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. titled “Bison Bones & Indian Stones.”  This program will provide people with an interest in archaeology and cultural anthropology a FANTASTIC opportunity to learn more about bones and artifacts found by Larry Richie in Rice County.  Some of the ancient bison bones Mr. Richie will be bringing show cut marks and/or missing pieces.  Program attendees will have an opportunity to examine them and decide if they show signs of human manipulation.

Larry Richie is a retired Rice County Dairy Farmer, naturalist, and local historian who lives on a farm in Walcott Township.  He has worked with area schools for over thirty years to provide hands on learning opportunities in the areas of history and the natural sciences.  In 2017, Mr. Richie self-published the book Footsteps Along the Straight River.
