The Cannon Valley Civil War Roundtable will hold its monthly meeting on September 20th, at the Faribault Senior Center, 19 West Division Street.It will be our FOURTEENTH annual Kick-off dinner. Slow Cooked Pulled Pork, beans, col slaw, bread, coffee and water will be served at 6 p.m.Each participant will be charged $5.00 for the meal.Mr. Barry Adams – of Gettysburg fame – will be our Dinner Speaker.More about Mr. Adams:From 1955 to the present Barry D. Adams has pursued his interests in history. In 2010 he retired from his role as a historian and Licensed Battlefield Guide at Gettysburg National Military Park. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Adams earned graduate degrees in history and spent 35 years in public education as a teacher and as the principal at Kutztown (PA) High School. He has given more than a thousand tours at Gettysburg and has spoken to a wide variety of audiences: historical societies, Civil War roundtables, schools, fraternal organizations, national and international military officers-in-training, and has acted as an adjunct instructor for several university courses. Barry moved to Owatonna in 2008. After eight and a half years of research and writing, Barry’s exhaustive study of Steele County, Minnesota in the Civil War resulted in the 2018 publication of his book by the same title. Copies of Steele County In The Civil War were given in class quantity to every school in Steele County. The program, September 20th will be on the Battle of Nashville and it mirrors one of the chapters in the book.
