The Carleton Players will present William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” premiering on the Weitz Center for Creativity Theater stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. Additional performances are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20; Thursday, Oct. 25; and again Saturday, Oct. 27. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Sunday, Oct. 21.

Brimming with music and word play, “As You Like It” is a story of love and the adventurous journey towards new beginnings. Considered to be one of the Bard’s greatest comedies, it tells the story of heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle’s court, by assuming the identity of a man and running off into Arden Forest, where she discovers colorful characters and the true meaning of love.

Written in the middle of the Shakespeare’s prolific career, “As You Like It” has been adapted countless of times for radio, film and musical theater, the play remains a favorite amongst audiences. The play is a timeless reminder of the importance of having the freedom to love and to live to the fullest.
