FARIBAULT, MN (8/24/2018) – University of Minnesota Extension Master Naturalist Program, in partnership with River Bend Nature Center, invites area residents to participate in National Public Lands Day (NPLD) on September 22, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

National Public Lands Day is the largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. Since 2012, the Minnesota Master Naturalist Program has facilitated this effort at sites across the state. More than 1,000 volunteers have removed invasive species, planted pollinator gardens, protected newly-planted trees, among other projects for over 5,000 service hours to date. This year, the Minnesota Master Naturalist Program encourages residents to join this growing tradition of stewardship through service at one of 15 locations in Minnesota.

Volunteers are encouraged to register before September 7th to receive a Master Naturalist NPLD 2018 t-shirt. Registration officially closes on September 18th. To find the National Public Lands Day site nearest you, go to: https://z.umn.edu/NPLD18.

Volunteers at River Bend Nature Center will be removing invasive buckthorn and honeysuckle in and around Honor Point. Honor Point has special meaning to the River Bend community. It serves as a memorial for special members of the community who have helped River Bend become what it is today.

River Bend Nature Center is located at 1000 Rustad Road Faribault, MN 55021. To register for this site, go to: https://z.umn.edu/3ogi
