Dr. Jack Felland, a family medicine physician, has joined Northfield Hospital & Clinics. He sees patients at the Northfield Clinic (including evening hours) and at the Lonsdale Clinic.
Dr. Felland cares for patients of all ages for a wide range of conditions. He treats everything from routine care to complex, multi-problem health issues.
“I like seeing whole families,” he says. “I like to see everything, really.”
Dr. Felland enjoys getting to know patients, and providing strong continuity of care. (more…)
Filing opens today for some City and County seats
Filing began today for those running for local offices. In Northfield, Mayor Dana Graham was at City Hall at 8am, paid his $5 filing fee and is officially seeking re-election. He said this morning that it’s not an easy decision, “four years ago I certainly didn’t think I would be in this position. As a matter of fact, I promised my wife I wouldn’t”. However, “the fact of the matter is, I do believe that after going through some of the situations we’ve gone through in the last 4 years, including now on our 4th administrators…. we need stability”. County Commissioners to select finalists
Rice County Commissioners will hear from Gary Weiers of Drown & Assoc. on finalists for County Administrator tomorrow morning. They’ll have 10 candidates to wittle down to 3 or 5. Commissioner Galen Malecha said they’ll each pick their top 3. There were 22 candidates who applied. They’ll be conducting interviews June 8th and 9th and hope to have their selection on the 9th. I recently announced that I will be running for a second term as mayor of Northfield. This was a very difficult decision. Four years ago, I freely made a promise to my wife that I would not seek re-election; this was a very important promise to her. So, I am breaking my promise to be able to continue doing something I enjoy. I also believe I am making a positive contribution to the betterment of Northfield. I want to apologize to her publicly and share that I will be working hard to earn her support. (more…)
A man threatening suicide was taken into protective custody late yesterday afternoon. Just before 5 o’clock a call went out to Dakota County. They were able to ping his cell phone and he was located in Waterford Township at the Old Bridge off Canada Avenue. Northfield Police were asked to respond. Police Chief Monte Nelson said a Sgt. and officer arrived to find the man armed with a knife and threatening. They tased the 33 year old as Dakota County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency vehicles arrived on scene. Nelson said he was very proud of his officers for the fantastic job they did. He added that the situation could have turned out very differently. The unidentified man is being held for evaluation.
