On a snowy afternoon, Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced her Presidential bid yesterday in front of thousands gathered on Boom Island. Using the Mississippi River as a connector of our nation’s history, she said, “For that is how this country was founded, with patriots who saw more that united them than divided them.” While never mentioning President Trump by name, she spoke of the division in our country and the “dark” money in politics. There is much more to her speech which is posted in it’s entirety on our website. We also have video and pictures from the event on our Facebook page. Sen. Klobuchar Urges Participation in Saturday’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
In the Senate, Klobuchar has worked to pass and implement major bipartisan legislation to expand drug take-back programs
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day gives Minnesotans the opportunity to properly dispose of unused prescription drugs to avoid diversion, misuse, and abuse
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is urging Minnesotans to participate intomorrow’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. From 10:00 am until 2:00 pm CDT tomorrow, the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will allow people across the country to properly dispose of unused prescription drugs to avoid diversion, misuse, and abuse. Minnesotans can participate by visiting their local collection site, which they can find on the DEA’s website HERE.
“As a former prosecutor, I have seen firsthand the devastating effects drug abuse can have on families in Minnesota and across the country,” said Klobuchar. “Initiatives like the DEA’s Drug Take-Back Day are important in helping promote awareness and reversing this deadly trend.”
Klobuchar has long led local and national efforts to curb drug abuse and help people overcome addiction. In September 2014, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) implemented Klobuchar’s bipartisan Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act. Under the legislation, consumers are provided with more safe and responsible ways to dispose of unused prescription medications and controlled substances. Klobuchar’s bipartisan bill, theComprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), recently passed the Senate. This bill would encourage states and local communities to pursue a full array of proven strategies in the fight against addiction.
