Tragedy takes two
A community is mourning the loss of two lives after 61 year old Richard Larson, a retired Faribault Police Captain and Vietnam veteran, shot and killed his ex-wife, 59 year old Barbara Larson and then killed himself. Police responded to the Faribault Chamber of Commerce on Friday just after noon when a caller reported 2 people down inside the building. Officers arrived to discover a man and woman deceased behind the counter. No other employees were present. The Larsons divorced in 2014 and earlier last week, Barbara took out an harassment restraining order against Richard. Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen said in a press release, “Being such a small community, Faribault PD has worked with both in the past. Our collective hearts are broken after responding to such a tragedy”. The Larson’s leave behind 2 sons who ask that you reach out to anyone who may be feeling depressed or hopeless. The Faribault Chamber will be closed this week. Funerals are set for Wednesday and Thursday.
