NPD warns of Suspicious Activity

The Northfield Police Department would like to inform the community of Suspicious Activity related to home repairs after the recent hail storms since May 14, 2017.

The Northfield Police Department has received reports of people going door-to-door seeking contract work to repair shingles and siding on residential homes. The Northfield Police urge community members to be cautious about inviting people into their homes or giving out personal, private information.  Full press release with much more information below:

Northfield police sent out an alert on a man exposing himself.  Deputy Chief Mark Dukatz reported that between 7:30 and 7:45 this morning, Police received a report of male in a vehicle exposing himself to people in the area of the 1600 Block of Jefferson Parkway. “Self defense” for Nfld woman involved in fatal shooting

The woman who fatally shot 61 year old Lily Kirckof last August was not charged.  Rice County Attorney John Fossum explained that they wouldn’t be able to prove without a reasonable doubt that the woman who shot Kirckof wasn’t acting in self defense.  75 year old Phyllis Hall owned the home on Jefferson Rd in Northfield.  Kirckof had a room in the basement.  They shared the first floor while Hall’s bedroom was upstairs.
