Land purchase on hold for Mill Towns Trail
The Northfield City Council discussed the possible acquisition of 2 properties for the Mill Towns Trail. They are 1700 and 1900 Dundas Blvd between the river and the RR trax behind Perkins Transportation. Mayor Dana Graham said there is a local trail there but it crosses over the RR tracks and is in disrepair. The proposal from the Mill Towns Trail group, is for the City to purchase the land and the DNR to build and maintain it. Nfld Council passes Levy at 2%
The Northfield Council met last night They started with public hearings on several levies, plans and budgets. The HRA and EDA levies passed unanimously at about 1.8% each. The General levy passed 6 to 1 at 2%, that was the Preliminary levy they set in September. Councilor DeLong wanted it to be 1%. Mayor Dana Graham said, “while we can’t control, obviously, the County or the School District taxes, our City taxes, for the most part, are going down”. The 2% is a dollar amount of overall spending.
