Farmers in our region are gaining confidence in using cover crops more each year.  Whether used for soil erosion, capturing nutrients, breaking disease cycles, improving soil health, adding organic matter, or any one of the many other benefits – cover crops can be beneficial.  However, challenges exist.  An upcoming workshop on March 2 in Owatonna will address some of these challenges, including: residual herbicide effects, cover crop establishment and the use of interseeding, and managing manure application timing. Dr. Scotty Wells, Liz Stahl, and Randy Pepin, all with UMN Extension will be presenting.
