With statewide speeding enforcement, the Northfield police department handed out plenty of citations over the long 4th of July holiday. Approximately two dozen tickets were handed out from July 1st to July 7th. Along with speeding came numerous other citations including not wearing seatbelts, open bottle, no insurance and revoked license. The speed enforcement campaign runs through July 21, 2019.
Transferring land to enable driveway and parking lots
In order to put in a driveway to the depot on the Q-block in Northfield, the city needs to own it. City Administrator Ben Martig said the action taken last week by the council opens the door “…clearly how we should subdivide the property and actually get the properties back from Save the Northfield Depot. They would retain the one lot for the actual historic depot building.” He continued, “But there’s going to be legal work. I’m presuming the city’s going to pay for all the costs and basically engineering work to do some surveying, legal work, then get the properties transferred over.
