To the residents of Northfield:
I recently announced that I will be running for a second term as mayor of Northfield. This was a very difficult decision. Four years ago, I freely made a promise to my wife that I would not seek re-election; this was a very important promise to her. So, I am breaking my promise to be able to continue doing something I enjoy. I also believe I am making a positive contribution to the betterment of Northfield. I want to apologize to her publicly and share that I will be working hard to earn her support.
In the coming months, I will also be working to earn your support. Given the many transitions that have taken place in our administrative leadership, it’s important to maintain stability on the council, which is one reason I’d like to remain in this office. I would also like to continue working on several initiatives of particular importance to me, including youth involvement in city affairs, support for our veterans and military families through the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network, opportunities for new and existing businesses to develop, building stronger connections with our Latino residents, and ensuring that our city services and agencies operate efficiently and with the highest degree of satisfaction possible.
I look forward to talking with many of you and answering questions you may have about the immediate future of Northfield and how I plan to address both our needs and opportunities. We have some challenges on different fronts that will require strong leadership, and I know I can offer that in ways that promote partnership and collaboration.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity these past four years to help guide and strengthen our community. It would be a great honor and privilege to continue serving as your mayor. Together we can guarantee Northfield is a place we are all proud to call home.
