Community News: Habitat looking for volunteers for Nfld. build

habitatJoin Us in Building With the Alexanders

Thanks to everyone for your patience in getting things up and running for our Northfield build with the Alexanders. We are now ready for individuals and volunteer groups to sign up to work on the Northfield build site, 805 1st St. W.

Our workdays will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays beginning on Sept. 20. Sign up to volunteer today!

There are three different roles (with various slot counts) that we would like to fill each workday:
1. General Volunteer – when you arrive onsite, you will sign in and receive safety instruction for the day. Our Site Supervisor, Larry Narhi, will get you started on the scheduled work for the day. Activities will vary and will be posted to our website when the detailed build schedule is complete.
2. Meal Provider – we love to feed our volunteers! Sign up to bring a meal to the workday to feed approximately 12-15 volunteers. Bring a hotdish, a crock pot of chili, pulled pork sandwiches – we’re not picky! Habitat will provide all utensils, plates, cups and drinks. This is a great way to be involved if you aren’t able, old enough or interested being a physical builder.
3. Site Host – on Saturdays, we’re looking for someone to support our volunteers as a Site Host. Arrive early with a bag of ice to get drinks chilled, make coffee, greet those coming on site and help folks get signed in. You’ll help with various duties throughout the day to be sure everyone has a fun and safe time.

If you have a business, church or organization that would like to do a workday as a group, contact Megan at habitatricecommunity@gmail.com or 507.323.5167 and we’ll get you on the calendar.

Hope to see you on the build site!
