A New Prague couple were sentenced yesterday in Dakota County court for bilking thousands of dollars from the woman’s father’s estate.  Attorney James Backstrom reports that 41 year old Shannon Marie Thompson and 37 year old Theodore Thompson moved in with Shannon’s parents in Lakeville after her father was diagnosed with cancer.  He died in February of 2014.  From then through December of 2014, Thompson and her husband stole almost $60,000.  They were sentenced to five days in jail, 30 days of

electronic home monitoring and 10 years of probation by Judge Michael Baxter.  Both pled guilty to one count of felony Theft, they were charged with 4 counts. The Thompson’s will pay over $47,000 in restitution.  Shannon Thompson’s mother told police that she had not authorized her daughter to make any changes to her checking account or take money. The mother also told police she thought the couple had been keeping current on her bills, which was not the case. I have the full complaint on kymn.net later today.  Thompson’s complaints

The Northfield YMCA’s success has primarily been because of strong community leadership.  CEO Virginia Kaczmarek said board members play a pivotal role in the direction, vision and future impact of the brand new facility.  She’s very proud to announce their three newest board members.  Jon Whitney, Mark Abbott and Pat O’Neill.  Pictures left to right:  Virginia Kaczmarek (CEO), Gretchen Ehresmann (Board Chair), Jon Whitney, Chris Kennelly (Vice Chair), Mark Abbott and Pat O’Neill.
