The Tempest takes place on a mysterious island – home of spirits, monsters, secrets, a former Duke with a command of sorcery, and his daughter. The play begins with a giant storm conjured by the Duke, Prospero, and designed to strand those responsible for stealing his Dukedom. The storm also brings a cast of colorful characters to the island’s shore and Prospero is ready to receive them with a plot to enact revenge. Along the tempestuous journey, characters lust for power, unleash powerful passions, and strive for love and forgiveness. Delightful magic, young romance, and physical comedy offset the darkness in Shakespeare’s farewell to the stage.
