Northfield and Farmington Police Investigators have concluded this investigation. It was determined the victim suffered an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred in Dakota County, not in the City of Northfield. The case is closed and will not likely result in criminal charges.

Previous Press Release Info: At about 12:15 a.m. on September 6, 2017, Northfield Officers responded to the Northfield Hospital regarding a victim with a gunshot wound. At about the same time, officers responded to the 400 block of Highway 3 South for a reported suspicious incident. At the scene on Highway 3 South, officers collected information from employees and evidence from the scene.
