2 day Hwy 246 detour for pavement replacement to disrupt Northfield school routes

Motorists on Highway 246 in Northfield will be detoured for two days beginning Tuesday, Oct. 17 for crews to complete a pavement replacement project south of Woodley Street, according to the
Minnesota Department of Transportation.

MnDOT maintenance crews will be removing damaged pavement on Hwy 246 from Woodley Street to Fremont
Street on Oct. 17-Oct. 18, weather permitting. Both northbound and southbound traffic will be closed through
this stretch of road.

Southbound motorists will be detoured around the closure by traveling west on Woodley to Highway 3 south to
Jefferson Parkway east. Northbound motorists will follow route in reverse. The detour will cause traffic that
normally travels on Hwy 246 south to the high school, middle school and elementary school to detour during the
closure.

Motorists should always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road
blocked with barriers or cones.
