Nfld man charged with child porn after months of investigation; Downtown intersections to be studied; PEHS – dine and donate

A Northfield man has been charged with 2 felony counts of possessing child porn and solicitation of a minor.  In July of 2016, Northfield Police received an email from someone reporting that her ex-friend, 23 year old Dylan Moses Berg, told her he gets underage girls to send him explicit photographs.  The woman confirmed with police that Berg sent her Facebook messages with the pictures and admitted to being a predator.  Officers located him at a residence on Jefferson Drive.  Berg told them he identifies as transgender and goes by a fictitious girls name on social media, sending explicit “selfies” of someone else to lure the girls.  After a

forensic search of Berg’s computers, there were more than 100 images and 20 videos of two girls in particular.  One from Portland, Oregon and the other from Minneapolis.  The girls confirmed it was them.  A court summons was filed last week.  His first court appearance is December 14th.

Downtown intersections to be studied

Five intersections in Northfield including 6th and 7th and Division, Water and 7th and 4th and 5th and Washington will be under scrutiny.  Mayor Pownell said that they will gather additional data, do some traffic studies to see if any of those intersections merit stop signs.  Howie Osterue of Eco Gardens is a strong advocate for a stop sign at 6th and Division.  As he works on that corner every day, outside for most of it, he sees the danger of the area for pedestrians, bicyclists and cars.  Public Works Director Dave Bennett said that the traffic likely doesn’t meet criteria for a stop sign, however, Council has the authority to put a 4 way stop in whereever they decide.  Council will be voting on the overall design of the 2018 street projects either next week or December 5th.  In the meantime, staff has been given direction to come up with some creative solutions to parking issues.  City of Northfield, City Council meeting 11-14-17
