Onigamiising – Seasons of an Ojibwe Year

On today’s 15 with the Author, Teri Knight, talks with Linda LeGarde Grover, an Ojibwe native of Duluth, on her new book “Onigamiising (AH nih gum AY sing) –  Seasons of an Ojibwe Year”.  There are 50 essays reflecting on the spiritual beliefs and everyday practices that carry the Ojibwe through the year and connect them to the land.  These season are the cycle of human life.  She is the oldest of 13 siblings and talks about how important family is to Native Americans and how children were wrenched from the families to be indoctrinated into the English language and ways.
