Today in the ArtZany! Radio studio Paula Granquist welcomes children’s book author Mary Bleckwehl. We will celebrate the release of her third picture book Claire’s Hair: a Tale of Hair, Heart, and Humor.

Mary Bleckwehl is the author of Henry, You’re Late Again and Henry, You’re Hungry Again. Her latest picture book Claire’s Hair: a Tale of Hair, Heart, and Humor tells the story of Claire’s hair- it’s red, long, and fantastically hilarious. Her best friend Albert thinks so too. They use it to jump rope; they swing through the jungle on it; they even use it to tie up the neighborhood “robbers!” Claire gets a big, hairy idea when her BFF gets sick. Using years of teaching experiences and stories from children, Mary has created touching tales that will resonate with every child from 3 to 93. Together with her husband, Mary has raised a daughter and two sons and lives in Northfield, Minnesota. She still spends plenty of time in schools as an author as well as a substitute teacher.

Children’s book author Mary Bleckwehl and illustrator Sara Weingartner will celebrate the publication of their new book, Claire’s Hair: a Tale of Hair, Heart, and Humor at Content Bookstore in downtown Northfield. Mary will read her story for children aloud, and Sara will talk about her work illustrating the book, so bring the kids and plan on a fun Saturday morning in the bookstore!
