NORTHFIELD, MINN. (March 6, 2018) – Northfield Area United Way is looking for community volunteers to serve on its grant allocation panels this spring. Local community input is an essential part of the United Way’s annual grant-making process.
Panelists will review the grant applications in one of the three main areas of the United Way’s focus: education, health, or financial stability/basic needs.
Applications will be available for review in April. In early May, panelists will attend one allocation session to hear in-person presentations by all of the applicants in the chosen area of focus. Immediately after the presentations, the panelists will confer and decide upon their grant allocation recommendations to the Northfield Area United Way’s board of directors.
Panelists can indicate their preferred area of focus or can choose the panel that meets at the time that works best for them. Morning (May 1), evening (May 2) and afternoon (May 3) sessions are available.
This is a great way to learn about some of the work being done by nonprofits serving the Northfield area. People interested in being a part of this important process are invited to contact Penny Hillemann, Northfield Area United Way’s executive director, at 507-664-3510 or connect@NorthfieldUnitedWay.org.
