Cannon river Advisory warning extended

The City of Northfield is extending its advisory warning to the public to consider avoiding direct
contact with the water on the Cannon River downstream of Northfield in Dakota County and
Goodhue County through 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6 as a result of a discharge of wastewater
from the Northfield Wastewater Treatment Plant on the early morning of Tuesday, July 2, 2018.

Water quality test samples collected Wednesday, July 4 show bacteria levels have decreased
below recreational water quality levels. The City is waiting on additional test results to confirm
this trend and is anticipating the advisory will be lifted on Friday, July 6, 2018.

Swimming and other direct human contact with the Cannon River downstream of Northfield is
not advised. Additional sampling and testing is being conducted. Another advisory will be
issued tomorrow on Friday, July 6.  Full press release below:
