Eligible voters can register to vote by completing and submitting a Voter Registration Application at least 21 days before an election or they can wait to register at their polling place on the day of the election.
Residents should register to vote when any of the following take place:
- Upon turning 18 years old
- They have a name change
- They have a change of address
Voters can check to see if they are registered at their current address by going to the mnvotes.org website.
Pre-registration for the General Election to be held on November 6, 2018, will close on October 16th at 5:00 p.m. Voters may still register at the polls on election day but being pre-registered to vote will help avoid lines at your polling place on election day.
Voters may drop off voter registration applications at the Rice County Property Tax & Elections Department located in the Rice County Government Services Building at 320 3rd Street N.W. in Faribault.
Voters may also pre-register on-line at mnvotes.org.
Voters planning to register at the polls on election day can visit the mnvotes.org website for registration requirements and a list of documents you can use as proof of residence on election day.
