Body found is that of missing Northfield man

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed that the body found yesterday afternoon in Waterford Township is that of a missing Northfield man.  42 year old Joseph Camplin, who struggled with mental health issues, went missing November 16th. The Northfield Police department worked closely with his family to locate Joseph. His mom and sisters held out hope that he would be found safe.  Sgt. PT Haider organized searches of the Carleton Arboretum with a K-9 unit and searched near the Canada Avenue bridge but they found nothing.  At the time, the air had turned bitterly cold and that affected the dog’s sense of smell.  Haider, who’s been in constant contact with the family, stated late last month that it’s been very hard on the family.  He lived with his mom and was very close to his sisters.  Joseph was found in the 2400 block of 320th St. W. around 3:15pm in a wooded area off the roadway by a hunter.  Chief Monte Nelson said no foul play is suspected at this time. Adding that he would like to thank Northstar Search and Rescue, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, Minnesota BCA, and all others who helped with searches, disseminating information, and investigation.  NPD is asking the public to please respect the privacy of the family as they deal with their loss. Missing Person – Joseph Camplin – Located – 01.07.19.docx
