A Faribault man is in jail facing 3 felonies in connection with the heroin overdose yesterday of another man. 37 year old Edward James Climer Jr. admitted to selling the fentanyl-laced heroin laced to the overdose victim and 2 others. On January 10th, Faribault police were called to District One hospital for a possible overdose victim arriving by private vehicle. Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was nonresponsive and not breathing and still had a needle in his arm when hospital
security got to the car. NARCAN was administered to the victim which resulted in a save. Officers identified the overdose victim as D.H. He was alert and responsive to questions. Agents from the Cannon River Drug Task Force also arrived to assist in the investigation. D.H. told law enforcement that the heroin he overdosed on was provided to him by Climer). D.H. said he was in a car with the defendant and two other witnesses. They met an unknown male at the King Mill Dam Park. Climer bought the heroin from the unknown male and then distributed it to D.H. and the other two. Climer took some for himself and went to a female’s home. Agents recovered the snort straw she admitted using to snort the heroin. Climer admitted to all of it. He’s charged with “great bodily harm caused by distribution of drugs, 2nd degree drug sale in a park and 3rd degree drug sale. His bail has been set at $100k with conditions. His initial court appearance is January 18th. Climer Jr.
