Craig and Fred, a Marine, a stray dog and how they rescued each other

In 2010 Sgt. Craig Grossi was doing intelligence work for marine RECON, the most elite fighters in the Corps – in a remote part of Afghanistan.  While on patrol he spotted a young dog with a “big goofy head and little legs”. Craig shares his story of how they changed each other’s lives forever with his book “Craig and Fred, a Marine, a stray dog and how they rescued each other”.  The book goes back and forth from his missions in Afghanistan, stories of Fred and smuggling him out of that Country and a road trip he takes after returning to the States with Fred and another former Marine from Minnesota. It is filled with, what Craig

calls, “stubborn positivity” that Fred taught him.  You can find more at fredtheafghan.com. Craig and Fred will be here on Friday (May 3rd) speaking at the Masonic Heritage Center in Bloomington at 7pm. This is a benefit for local, Sam Daly’s organization Believet which supplies and trains service dogs for Veterans at no cost. Get your tickets on believet.org.
