Don’t Put the Boats Away by Ames Sheldon

Teri Knight’s guest today is Minnesotan, Ames Sheldon, with her latest book, “Don’t Put the Boats Away”. In the aftermath of World War II, the members of the Sutton family are reeling from the death of a beloved family member. Over the next twenty-five years, they all struggle with loss, grief, and mourning. The story of war’s aftermath isn’t often told. Ames discusses what drove her to tackle the subject and also about returning to writing and getting published at age 65. The book moves from New Jersey to Northfield as Ames has various  connections to the City. She is appearing at the Northfield Historical Society Museum on Thursday, November 21st at 2pm with a talk on the role women played during WWII and at 6pm with a history of the Ames Mill (part of her family) and tells how Northfield has influenced her writing. amessheldon.com
