DJJD Committee presented $7k in donations to NH&C as part of their Give Cancer the Boot campaign

This morning the Defeat of Jesse James Days committee presented two checks totaling $7,000 to local area cancer treatment centers housed within the Northfield Hospital as part of their Give Cancer the Boot campaign. Rebecca Peterson who has been the Chairperson of the event since its inception in 2014 was on hand for the presentations. In its first six years, the committee has donated over $30,000 in total to the the Northfield Breast Care Center and the Northfield Hospital Cancer Care and Infusion Center.

The funds are raised through several events taking place during and after the DJJD celebration weekend, including the annual cornhole tournament, a boot pass during the Saturday night rodeo performance, sponsorships from local businesses, shop for a cause day at Mainstream boutique, and a special purse and tool bingo.
In the past – funds have been used for a variety of things according to Patty Kark, including:
* Gift bags that were given out during the month of October (breast cancer awareness month) for women who came in for their mamograms
* mamopads
* new patient care packs
Director of the infusion center, Jodi Wieczorek, said that these funds are used in a variety of efforts to help enhance patient experience. The funds help to purchase new patient packs to try and make them more comfortable as they undergo treatment and also go to help support groups for patients.
